Small-sided Games (3v3)

1st and 2nd Grade:

  • These grades begin their games with 3v3
  • Less players = more touches = more development = more fun!

Playoffs

4th and 5th Grade:

  • Only our 2 oldest divisions have playoffs
  • All teams are guaranteed 9 games
  • The last 2 weeks will also be playoff games
  • If you lose you still have a consolation game

Referees

1st through 3rd grade

  • We can't call every travel or double dribble. No basketball would happen :)
  • So we focus on if an ADVANTAGE is gained.
  • We slowly tighten up as each game and season go along.
  • We will call it looser at the beginning of game 1 then we will towards the end of game 8.
  • I encourage the refs to be strict about fouling. It's important that players learn about being appropriately physical.
  • We make use of verbal reminders, re-dos, and quick teaching moments when necessary.

4th and 5th

  • PIAA refs call the game straight up.
  • But, many players are still beginners, so within reason.
  • I encourage the refs to be strict about fouling. It's important that players learn about being appropriately physical.
