Who: Small groups only. I am not offering private lessons. 

Location: I usually rent the CREC in Havertown or The Haverford School. If it's nice outside we may go to a park near you.

Ages: Any age starting at 5 years old. 

How often: 4 sessions minimum.

Coach Matt's experience coaching basketball

I have played basketball since I was 5 years old. I am currently 39 and still play twice a week. But, I have coached since I was a freshman in college. I always knew I wanted to be a coach. My uncle, Jim O'Brien, won a championship as an asst coach with Kentucky in 1996 and coached in the NBA for 20+ years. I'd say he was a pretty big influence on me! 

I was lucky enough as a player to have excellent coaches along the way including Paul McShane Sr, Tom Rayer, and Steve Cloran. 

Then I coached with Herb Magee, Jim Reilly, Kyle Epps, and Steve Cloran (again).

I became a school teacher so that I had a job that aligned with coaching. I spent entire summers at Pocono camps working for Bob Hurley Sr (St. Anthony's), his son Danny Hurley (UConn) and Kevin Boyle (Montverde Academy). I would come back and work Phil Martelli's camps at SJU and Betterball/Mission 5&2 with the Clorans.

Most importantly, and this would be true for any subject, it's what I've spent the most time thinking about. It's my biggest passion and I am constantly reflecting on how to teach the game in a way that's easiest to understand. 

In the spring of 2022, I decided to follow my dreams and be involved with basketball full time. Now as a basketball entrepreneur I get to create cool experiences like this!
